World largest sea bridge Opens in China

Chinese President Xi Jinping has officially opened the world’s longest sea crossing bridge, nine years after construction first began.
China will open a sprawling six-lane mega-bridge connecting the mainland city of Zhuhai to Hong Kong and Macau with over 34 miles of elevated roadway.

Including its access roads, the bridge spans 55km (34 miles) and connects Hong Kong to Macau and the mainland Chinese city of Zhuhai. Made from enough steel to build 60 Eiffel Towers and enough concrete to construct 22 Chrysler Buildings, it can withstand Magnitude-8 earthquakes, and is even prepared for super typhoons. This is something built to last a century of service.
The bridge was built on one of the world’s busiest sea routes, where more than 4000 vessels and 1800 flights travel back and forth daily, carrying annually more than 20 million people and 1.2 billion tons of goods. The area is also known for strong typhoons each year and rare marine species including Chinese white dolphins.

PM Modi Awarded Seoul Peace Prize 2018


PM Narendra Modi awarded prestigious Seoul Peace Prize 2018 for contribution to high economic growth in India and world through ‘Modinomics’, contribution to world peace, improving human development & furthering democracy in India.
PM was also “credited” for his “contribution towards regional and global peace through a proactive foreign policy with countries around the world under the ‘Modi doctrine’ and the ‘Act East Policy”.
The Seoul Peace Prize was established in 1990 to commemorate the success of the 24th Olympic Games held in Seoul.
the Award Committee decided to bestow the Prize on Prime Minister Modi, calling him ‘the perfect candidate for the 2018 Seoul Peace Prize.
PM Modi is the fourteenth recipient of this award. Past laureates in-clude distinguished glo-bal personalities like former UN Secretary General Kofi Annan and German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

PM Narendra Modi launches ‘Main Nahin Hum’ portal in Delhi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, interacted with IT and electronic manufacturing professionals across India. The prime minister also launched the ‘Main Nahin Hum’ portal and mobile application.
The self4society.mygov.in’ — named as ‘Main Nahi Hum’ – portal will act as a platform for companies to contribute their technology, skills and HR resources towards various social causes, including financial literacy, financial inclusion, small business enablement, and Swachh Bharat. Modi said volunteering efforts by the tech companies could bring about transformation in various sectors, including agriculture. He called on youngsters to venture out and work for the welfare of farmers.
During the event in the national capital, IT companies like Tata Consultancy Services, Cognizant, Tech Mahindra and Mindtree showcased the social transformation efforts they have undertaken and pledged to support the newly launched ‘self4society’ initiative.
The portal is expected to help catalyse greater collaboration towards the service of the weaker sections of society, especially by leveraging the benefits of technology. It is also expected to generate wider participation of interested people who are motivated to work for the benefit of society.
