Indian Arshdeep Singh wins 2018 Wildlife Photographer of the Year award

  • Ten-year-old Arshdeep Singh from Jalandhar has won the Junior Asian Wildlife Photographer award, in the 10-years-and-under category for his photograph ‘Pipe Owls’, which is of two spotted owlets nested inside a pipe. Now in its 53rd installment, the Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition is organised by the Britain’s Natural History Museum.

  • Arshdeep Singh started taking photographs at the age of six. The young photographer often travels with his father Randeep Singh who is also a well-known photographer.

India and Japan to hold joint Military exercise

  • India and Japan are all set to hold the first ever joint military exercise ‘Dharma Guardian -2018′ with the Indian Army and Japan Ground Self Defence Force at Counter Insurgency Warfare School in Vairengte, Mizoram from November 1 to 14, 2018.
  • The focus of the two-week-long exercise ‘Dharma Guardian” will be to increase interoperability between the two forces and enhance coordination in dealing with various security challenges.

Kerala the first smoke-free State to have 100% LPG

  • Kerala is become the first smoke-free State in the country with public sector oil companies eyeing 100% LPG penetration here.
  • Mr. Rajendrakumar said LPG is being supplied beyond commercial considerations with the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana initiated by the Ministry of Petroleum aimed at providing 50 million free LPG connections to women in poor households.
